EL SINCHE REFORESTATION PROJECT

 

 

Project Location: Province of Bolivar, near city of Guaranda, in central Ecuador

 

Total Land Area: 1,300 hectares (3,212 acres)

 

The Area to be Reforested/Regenerated: 1,200 hectares (2,965 acres), the original high altitude forest (2,800-3800 meters elevation / 9185-12465 feet elevation), was cleared 100 years ago for pasture/firewood. No reforestation has occurred since.

 

Estimated Total Project Cost: USD 86,100,000 (USD 11,100,000 first year) 

 

Estimated CO2 Captured Per Year: 18.92 tons/ha/year or 22,700 metric tons/year

 

Estimated Total CO2 Captured In 50 Year Project Life:  1,135,000 metric tons (1,135 million tons)

 

Estimated Project Launch: Fall/winter 2024

 

Estimated Carbon Credits Certification: Summer 2025
