SABIA ESPERANZA CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION PROJECT

Project Location: province of Imbabura, near city of Ibarra, in northern Ecuador
Total Land Area: 1,500 hectares (3,706 acres)
Total Area to be Preserved: 1,500 hectares (3,706 acres), this land comprises one of the last original high altitude forests (2,500-3,500 meters above sea level / 8,200-11,500 feet). Most forests around the property have been cleared many years ago, and the remaining forest/ecosystems are highly threatened if not preserved.
Estimated CO2 Captured Per Year: 11 tons/ha/year or 16,500 tons/year
Estimated Total CO2 Captured 50 Year Project Life: 825,000 tons or 0.825 million tons
Estimated Cost: USD 90,000,000/50 years (USD 2,000,000 first year)
